What is the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform?

The 'Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act ' is a legislation passed by Obama in 2010, in response to the 2007/08 financial crisis. It is named after U.S. Senator Christopher J. Dodd and U.S. Representative Barney Frank. The goals of the act was to: 

  1. Prevent another great recession 

  2. Prevent consumers from risky behaviour abuse or economic loss of financial institutions

Its purpose includes:

  1. Making the financial system more transparent and accountable

  2. Preventing institutions from becoming too big to fail

  3. Preventing government bailouts funded by taxpayers

  4. Ending risky and abusive financial practices

What is Trump's executive order on immigration?

On 27 January 2017 President Trump signed an executive order which

  1. Temporarily bans citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries (Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Lybia) from entering the United States for 90 days

  2. Suspended refugee admissions for 120 days with 'case by case' exceptions (e.g. preference is given for Christian over Muslim refugees from the Middle East)

  3. The order reduces the number of refugees allowed to enter the United States in 2017 and suspends the entry of Syrian refugees indefinitely
